St Mary's Harbour Update From Harbourmaster Dale Clark

GENERAL:

Kier continue to work in all areas on the quay as they approach the final phase of the project

The tug Polmear and NATO vessel remains in St. Mary s harbour

Harbour launch Pegasus remains ashore with her engine and jet unit removed for service. We are awaiting arrival of new tubes next week

The storm boards have been removed at Porthloo for a landing craft visiting tomorrow (Sat) morning

Retail unit 1 on the quay (currently Kier staff room) is available for rent from the Duchy. Please contact Hugh House for full details

SHIPPING AND QUAY EXTENSION (KIER):

Works to install the fendering continues

The North cardinal mark will remain in place until the divers have completed their work

Concreting continues with 2 slabs remaining

The sector light has been removed from the end of the quay (not the new 23m section) and will not be replaced

Lighting to illuminate the end of the quay is being undertaken by a lighting tower until the new lamp post is installed with a new light fitted to it

A landing craft has been programmed to remove the digger currently on Rat Island on Saturday evenings tide. The 4 large moorings at Nut Rock, Innisidgen and behind the quay remain in place

The steel pontoon sections remain one of which is being used for the fendering works. In time they will be dismantled and sent back to the mainland

QUAY WIDENING:

Concreting has continued on the slabs and preparation work will continue in the coming week for further concrete pours

The granite facing sets are now being installed to the new wave wall. This work is slow going and will continue throughout the week. Access platforms on the seaward side are to be fitted to the new wave walls when weather/tides allow which will allow access for the granite facing blocks to be installed

The digger is removing the ramp on which it sat and also re-positioning many of the large boulders prior to its departure tomorrow evening on the landing craft mentioned above

Material from Porthloo continues to be used as backfill in the quay widening.

KIER BUILDING

Ticket Office/Check in: PA system, electrics and some painting still to complete.

Freight Office: No change

Chiller/Freezer: Completed and operational guttering to address this coming week

Freight Store:New doors are on and work to install the internal barriers is on-going

Balcony The cedar cladding on the underside is complete and new lights have been installed. Work will continue this coming week to address drainage issues on the topside before fitting the decking and facia boards.
