Released on 23 September 2014 Surrey Heath Museum, Windlesham and Camberley Camera Club and local historians are hosting an exciting military remnants exhibition until 1 November 2014, packed full of Surrey Heath’s war time and military activities over the past 300 years. Highlights include remnants from military schools, the National Rifle Association and military barracks. Physical aspects including training trenches, tank obstacles and homes used for military use, which can still be seen around Surrey Heath today, will also be covered.
The borough is renowned for its military heritage, including the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the Cadet Training Centre at Frimley Park, and the Royal Army Medical Corps based at Mytchett and the Royal Logistics Corp based at Deepcut.
Surrey Heath Museum’s Gill Barnes-Riding, said: “This is a thought-provoking and informative exhibition which celebrates the military heritage of our area. “With 100 years since the First World, it’s great to highlight the local military impact.” For more information, please email: [email protected] , or phone: 01276 707284 (Wednesday to Friday) or 07598 193223.
