The long distance duathlon series POWERMAN is making a return to the UK, on Sunday 11th August 2013 at the former Ironman UK venue of Sherborne in Dorest. The official line from the organisers including news that the 10k / 60k / 10k event will also have a long course option of 10k / 120k / 20k too. POWERMAN, the global duathlon brand is heading to Sherborne on August 11th 2013 for the debut of POWERMAN UK Sherborne.
The event will be a World Championship Qualifier for the POWERMAN World Championships 2013 in Zofingen Switzerland POWERMAN UK is a duathlon event, comprising of a 10km run followed by a 60km bike and ending with another 10km run. A long course option will be available which will consists of a 10km run-120km bike and a 20km run. Both events will run alongside each other starting and finishing in Cheap Street Sherborne.
The race will start and finish in Cheap Street with a lapped course taking in some of the historic sights of the town including Sherbone Abbey, built in 705 AD. The bike course will be a return to familiar territory and bring back lots of memories as athletes will race a scenic loop of Dorset including the popular climb at Lyons gate. Richard Wallace, former IRONMAN UK Race Director will be the overseeing the new race and hopes that athletes will enjoy the return to Dorset: Sherborne has been a welcoming home for multisport in the past and we hope that will continue to be the case.
POWERMAN is a new event for the area, but one that we feel will be quickly embraced by the local population and we look forward to their continuing support over the coming years.
